The Castle Merlot 2018
At the Castle, the Count waits with wine, dark as his shadow…
Our 2018 Merlot offers a complex and full-bodied, yet traditionally smooth and balanced experience from bouquet to finish. This unfiltered wine showcases the depth of traditional winemaking, aged to perfection after a 5-week fermentation and 12+ months of rest in Romanian oak barrels. The exotic influence of the oak brings forward a rich, woody aroma, accented by lush notes of plum jam and a delicate touch of vanilla. Serve at 18 degrees to savor every sip.

THE STORY
At Stoker Wines, we follow in the tradition of Bram Stoker, who in 1897 produced a mysterious blend of his own, to create his Castle Dracula. Bram used three distinct features: the exterior, the interior, and the location. He used a sketch of Bran Castle in Romania for his exterior description and Slains Castle in Cruden Bay Scotland for his internal octagonal room where Count Dracula welcomes Jonathan Harker and enjoys two glasses of wine. Bram placed his supernatural Count’s lair on Mount Izvorul, an extinct volcano near the Borgo Pass amid the flickering blue flames in the Calimani National Park of the Carpathian Mountains, in Northern Transylvania.
This Merlot… a seductive vintage, dark as the midnight sky over Carpathian peaks. Imagine its deep crimson hue, almost as rich as freshly spilt blood. The aroma – rich, jammy plums with hints of oak and vanilla – conjures images of moss-covered castles and ancient cellars. Each sip is a velvet caress, smooth yet robust, leaving a faint warmth that lingers, like a whisper in the dead of night. It is not just a drink; it is a feast, a symphony of shadows and secrets that awakens even the most dormant desires…
